Volkswagen Canada and its subsidiary Electrify Canada are teaming up to offer two years of complimentary 30-minute charging sessions to owners of the 2020 e-Golf.

Customers who purchased the vehicle can enroll in and manage their charging plan through the newly launched Electrify Canada mobile app, available for Android and iPhone. Drivers can then redeem 30-minute charging sessions at any charging station along the Electrify Canada network. The company plans to open a total of 32 charging stations with more than 128 chargers throughout Ontario, Quebec, Alberta and British Columbia by the end of 2020.

“We are positioning Volkswagen Canada to play a significant role as the auto industry moves forward with more electrified vehicles,” Pierre Boutin, CEO of Volkswagen Canada, said in a statement. “Providing our customers with ample opportunities to charge their 2020 VW e-Golf will help them adopt electrified transportation for their daily travel.”

Electrify Canada’s 150kW to 350kW chargers can service the longer range, larger battery vehicles coming to market, but at the same time, can deliver 50kW charging power to support today’s EVs.

“Our goal is to make EV adoption accessible to every driver,” Robert Barrosa, chief operating officer of Electrify Canada, said in a statement Wednesday. “This new charging plan serves as extra incentive for drivers to make the switch to electric.”
